Information Point one

(supporting the World Artists)

Newton/Arkwright Building ntu

This information point is specifically for the World Artists who will be staying at Nottingham Trent University’s Halls of Residence. For many, it will be their first visit to Nottingham, or their first time in the UK. We want to ensure they have as much information and support as they need to find their way round the city, and for them to make the most out of their time at WEYA. We need people who are clear communicators and enjoy interacting with people. Some language skills may be helpful

TYPICAL TASKS

  • Helping and advising foreign artists to find their way around the city

EXPERIENCE

  • A second language useful but not essential
  • Confident in communicating with people who don’t speak much English
  • Good knowledge of the city

Information Point two

(supporting the General Public)

Market Square

This information point will be placed directly in Nottingham’s Old Market Square, and is the main information point for everyone in the City. We want this to be manned with a team of at least eight people every day, as we will be giving out daily programmes of events as well as highlighting some of the bigger occasions that are going to happen throughout WEYA. You will be located within a giant inflatable media hub, where young reporters will be documenting the festival and uploading information. Artists and communities will be showcasing their work in the square, and the information point will be at the centre of a bustling and vibrant creative space. Volunteering here may be tiring, but it will be a lot of fun, and you will get an overview of the whole festival

TYPICAL TASKS

  • Advising the public on the event programme
  • Linking in with the mobile media hub

HELPFUL EXPERIENCE

  • Confident in communicating with people
