Chase Walker

Country: Liberia
Chase was born in Monrovia, Liberia on July 11, 1989. Growing up in a war-torn country it was hard to find an art school and most of what Chase knows today has been self-taught and by learning from other experienced artists, like Leslie Lumeh.

Chase’s work consists of paintings, photography, cartoons, and digital art. Some of the mediums he uses are water-colour, acrylic paint, oil paint, pastel , charcoal and also coffee-painting.
The artist contributes daily cartoons to front page newspapers and is the head of their layout department. Chase has a real passion for photography and has spent time contributing to New Narratives Online journal.

Chase’s goal in life is to use art to make people see his country, Liberia, in a positive way. His principle in life is simple " life has to get bitter before it gets sweet". Chase spent six years in a refugee camp in Ghana. When there was nothing else to make him happy or positive, art was the only thing that carried him through.
