Oscar Octavio Soza Figueroa

Country: Bolivia
Oscar is an Art and Design graduate from the Autonomous University Gabriel René Moreno. He has recently exhibited at ‘Quinta Pintoresca’ in Oruro, Bolivia and ‘Regreso a los Sentidos’, Manzana Uno-Gallery, Santa Cruz, Bolivia.

His work at WEYA comprises a sculpture that is a fight between forces, a fight between the will of the matter and the awareness of the being. It is a game of attraction and rejection where the energy during the process of making the sculpture finishes in the given form.

Nevertheless this form transforms itself from matter to a being with which we co-exist in a space. This being is full of energy and its inactivity confuses us and at once calls for our attention. This unique form makes us want to observe it, feel it and invites us to touch it.
Touching is a form of communication as we can distinguish between a subtle affection and the most violent form of aggression. This is a form of emotional and unintentional communication that allows us to relate and perceive the reality in a different matter.

We should bear in mind that our skin is the biggest organ of the human body holding us in contact with the outer world. We see this world through mental patterns that we create through our senses and the relation to space. It is also possible to sense and perceive matter as a being with which we co-exist in a vibrant world full of life.
