Rob Reed

Country: United Kingdom
Robert Reed’s paintings offer audiences environments within the confines of the suburban common place, re-assessing the modern sense of the idyllic landscape, creates a solitary environment for viewers to escape to. He is often considered a ‘Romantic Realist’, his works sense of melancholy mirrors the loss of Romanticism’s admiration of the beauty of nature. Re-evaluating the emotion of the romantic trait to seek the essence of everyday life. Aspects that we consider mundane and moments we usually disregard or miss are brought to attention for audiences to develop a new sense of appreciation for such. The locations depicted in his paintings are not shared, as they attempt to serve as the everywhere or nowhere places of unclear familiarity, attempting to capture a psychological space rather than a topological description.
The artist’s work looks back to the emotional expression of ‘Romanticism’, showing a continuation for the Romantic traditions for the re-evaluation of the scenery and the discovery of its symbolic qualities. Considering the past in a new light to discover new perspectives on what is happening today, and to characterize the social and environmental concerns of today’s modern society. Basing his work around his own experiences of everyday observations, focusing on the surrounding landscape seeking idyllic environments for private contemplations.
Robert Reed is a Fine Art graduate from the University for Creative Arts. His most recent exhibitions include ‘The Great Escape II’, The DegreeArt.com gallery, London and ‘Parallax Art Fair’, La Galleria, London.
