Katy Escott (Nicaragua)
Since the age of 18, Katy has been participating and facilitating artistic processes in different projects implemented by FUNARTE including murals with young people that tell stories of community, origins and values. Katy is now focusing on how art transcends humanity, the essence of every being and through this explicit finding a fair relationship between women, men and nature. She believes to create and express oneself is necessary to observe the manifestations of nature that often can be complementary and harmonious in its colors and movements.
Joe Doldon (UK)
Joe’s installation art is based around the exploration of the language of materials in order to understand them, their history, production and meaning once taken from an everyday context. The materials are given the power to seduce and potentially transport the viewer, triggering visions and stirring up questions and dialogue about the nature of the objects they have been made into. The forms created in his work lie between familiar and foreign, organic and man-made. The materials used within his works are often unconventional and inexpensive, stating that the idea of turning “water into wine” is integral to the ethics of his practice. Doldon presents himself as a visual and physical explorer, largely in pursuit of a personal notion of beauty, whilst being aware not to slip into a self-indulgent practice.
