Regeneration began as a process to immortalize the memory of the artists mother after she passed away in 2005, following a 5-year struggle with cancer. Toeing the line between self-absorption and the grieving process was a tricky one for the artist, treating each image as an expression of an emotion related to her experience of loss. Taken mostly in the artists home where her mother passed on, these self-portraits served as a performative catharsis. Alone with her camera, she felt free to express her grief without fear of judgment. The outcome is a regenerated self that has come into acceptance.
