Symposium: Sharing Values across the Euro-Mediterranean Neighbourhood: Arts for intercultural dialogue & social change
The symposium will bring together ALF UK members who use the arts in their work, and include their experience of developing projects in Lebanon, Egypt, Israel, Palestine, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo and the U.K.
Themes discussed will include:
- How can the arts support youth leaderships and peace building in communities?
- How should artists respond in post-conflict situations?
- What are the implications for the arts when regimes change?
- Do social media and on-line spaces create new opportunities for expression and social participation? Who’s talking, and who’s listening?
- What challenges do we face in connecting creative practice with diverse participants and audiences?
- How can film and media be used to explore and address serious and complex issues?
The ALF UK network is coordinated by ion creative, a community interest company based in Manchester, North West England. Our members include NGOs, public institutions, foundations, academic institutions, media bodies and youth groups.
Speakers and presentations will include: Alda Terra, Arts Canteen, CIMPA( Creative Impetus), Indra Congress, ion creative, Lets Go Global, Literature Across Frontiers, Opera Circus, Peace Child International, People Can , TROTI- The Republic of the Imagination.
This programme is situated within The Space, Nottingham Contemporary.
