Specialist Volunteers
Language
WEYA would like to build a team of people who can speak more than one language to help with communication in the build-up and throughout the festival. If you are confident in speaking more than one language and are interested in working across the festival then get in touch. It may be that you support an artist to install their work, or help the information point at Nottingham Trent University – wherever translation and communication needs to be supported. We don’t know yet what languages we may need – an educated guess could include Spanish, Portuguese, Mandarin, Russian, French, Turkish, Vietnamese, Thai………. The list goes on, this is after all World Event Young Artists.
Visa/Legal
World Event Young Artists is supported by a local law firm Paragon Law, who is assisting and advising on all things to do with Visa applications and legal issues that may arise. However, if you have specialist knowledge of this area and are interested in giving us some time we would love to hear from you. May be you are a retired solicitor yourself, or just embarking on your career and would like some hands on experience. With over 400 artists coming from non-EU countries, the paperwork will be involved, and anyone with experience who would like to support this process would be very welcome.
Volunteer Management and Support
Our aim for WEYA to run smoothly is to build a team of around 100 volunteers to work across all areas of the Festival. We are looking for a small number of people who are able to offer a bit more time to help co-ordinate and support these individuals. You would link in directly with the Volunteer Co-ordinator, and build an understanding of the volunteer needs of the festival. This is an exciting opportunity and could start as early as June, so could offer some considerable work experience. If you enjoy working with people, and want to expand your knowledge of the arts, volunteering or working in the third sector then get in touch. This position would be more structured and would require an informal interview.
